Albania, 27 Nov. 2019– Albania struck by a strong earthquake on Tuesday causing the building to collapse, with some residents trapped under the rubble and causing panic among residents.

The 6.4 magnitude earthquake caused at least 360 people were injured in the collision while also affected houses.

According to the Ministry of Defense and the National Directory of Emergencies, at least 20 people were killed, and the number of buildings collapsed has yet to be determined.

Islamic Relief Albania is currently monitoring the situation to identify the intervention needed.

Syria, 29 Oct. 2019– A total of 1,200 people was crossed the Iraqi border last 23 October, resulting in an increase of 8,430 people in the last 10 days.

The need for shelter, food, water and healthcare was reported to increase among travel groups.

Due to the high cost factor to cross the border some refugees are reported to remain in official camps where critical humanitarian assistance is needed.

The refugees were transported to Bardarash camp by bus. At the moment, the number of refugees in the camp reached 1,662 families, while the camp had a capacity of 3,000 families and was expected to increase.

Islamic Relief in Iraq is ready to help in the provision of hygiene kits and food packages to refugees there.

BEIRUT, 23 Oct. 2019– Since military operations in northeast Syria began, around 160,000 civilians have been displaced.

On October 13, about 5,000 people were reported to move from the city of Ein Issa to the Ar-Raqqa area. Several hundred families were also reported to have left Menbij, Aleppo Governorate due to the hostilities.

Refugees began entering Iraq on October 13 via Duhuk, and according to the Joint Crisis Coordination Center (JCC) that number will increase from 30,000 to 250,000, refugees said.

UNHCR Iraq initially estimated around 50,000 people could across into Iraq. The main assistants needed for this camp are children’s diapers and milk powder, hygiene kits, meat and NFI (non-food items).

Islamic Relief in Iraq has visited Bardarash camp in Dhouk where about 4000 individuals have been deployed there and they currently monitoring the needs of the camp.

Yemen, 18 Oct. 2019– Yemen is currently experiencing a fuel crisis and has led to rising food prices and a growing health crisis.

Delivery of food and medical supplies took longer, while hospital and water filtration systems need fuel to operate.

Islamic Relief Yemen reported that the operation was going well but if the situation persists, it could have a significant impact on their program, and they will continue to monitor the situation there.

MIRPUR, 11 Oct. 2019– A subsequent earthquake struck Mirpur on 6 October, causing one death while two others were severely injured by a collapsed building.

Reports from Islamic Relief (IR) volunteers say that five homes were destroyed in Chattar Pair, Jatalan and Jari Kass.

Emergency Response Team (ERT) from IR Pakistan was deployed to Mirpur and affected areas to carry out the Rapid Needs Assessment (RNA).

The most needed items include hygiene kits (including menstrual hygiene kits), winter kits and kitchen appliances.

Reconstruct the house and drinking water sources urgently needed besides psychosocial support or counselling to the affected residents.
