67 killed meanwhile 500,000 people heavily affected

JAKARTA, 7 Jan. 2020 – The death toll has risen to 67 meanwhile more than 500,000 people are reported to be heavily affected due to landslide and flash flood in Bogor and Lebak district.

Thousands of homes are waterlogged meanwhile hundreds were swept away by the strong current.

The vicinity cities of Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, Tangerang, South Tangerang and Bandung Barat in West Java province were also affected.

Twelve district governments outside Jakarta have declared emergency status until 16 January.

The number of evacuees has been reduced to 15,000 people since the floodwater starts to recede.

24 people and almost 500 millions animals killed

AUSTRALIA, 6 Jan. 2020 – Twenty four people and almost 500 million animals have died, seven people are missing, meanwhile, 2,000 homes were destroyed in the catastrophic bushfire that engulfed Australia since the last few months.

According to Reuters, estimated about 67,000 people were forced to displace to a safer area in Victoria.

More than six million hectares of land in Victoria and New South Wales have been ripped by the catastrophic fire, as a result of an extreme heatwave and strong wind in this season.

Syrian Families in Idleb Fleeing Towards the North Closer to the Turkish Border

IDLEB, 24 Dec. 2019– An estimated 132,723 people were forced to flee their homes between 11 and 22 December and tens of thousands have fled since 16th December 2019.

The latest escalation is a result of intense aerial raids on civil infrastructures which at least 84 people have been killed and 173 injured.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has warned that another half a million people could be displaced in the coming weeks.

Islamic Relief Syria has identified the priority needs of affected IDPs as: shelter items, food, health services, nutrition and protection.

Displacement in Southern Idlib Increase

IDLIB, 24 Dec. 2019– Since 16th Dec, tens of thousands of civilians have fled from Ma’arrat An-Nu’man area in southern Idlib governorate, moving further north due to renewed intensive aerial bombardment.

Thousands of others, who are among the most vulnerable, are reportedly waiting for the bombardment to ease and find transportation to flee from the area.

Greater Idlib region (including western rural Aleppo) is home to an estimated 3.2 million people, more than half of whom are internally displaced and living in camps near the Turkish border.

Volatile security situating along the access routes north and the shortage of fuel in Idlib area are limiting the movement of civilians fleeing the hostilities. A smaller number of civilians are reportedly heading to areas in northern Aleppo governorate.

Many of those who fled are in urgent need of humanitarian support, particularly shelter, food, health, non-food items and winterization assistance.

6.8 magnitude Earthquake hit Southern Philippines

MANILA, 16 Dec. 2019– A powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.8 hit the Southern Philippine island of Mindanao.

Five people were killed including a child while dozens are injured and damaging building in an area still recovering from a string of deadly quakes in October-November 2019.

Islamic Relief team on the ground is completely safe and coordinating with other government and other peer agencies to assess the damage.

Albania struck by 6.4 magnitude earthquake

Albania, 27 Nov. 2019– Albania struck by a strong earthquake on Tuesday causing the building to collapse, with some residents trapped under the rubble and causing panic among residents.

The 6.4 magnitude earthquake caused at least 360 people were injured in the collision while also affected houses.

According to the Ministry of Defense and the National Directory of Emergencies, at least 20 people were killed, and the number of buildings collapsed has yet to be determined.

Islamic Relief Albania is currently monitoring the situation to identify the intervention needed.
