What is Charity Week?
Charity Week is an annual program implemented entirely by Islamic Relief volunteers. Charity Week includes various volunteer initiative activities to collect funds to be channelled to Islamic Relief’s humanitarian projects that focus on helping orphans and underprivileged children around the world.
This year, Charity Week targets a project to improve the library of schools with fewer students in the interior of Sarawak. The objective of this project is to improve the educational environment with provide long-term support. Islamic Relief Malaysia intends to upgrade the library at both schools and supply sufficient equipment.
Among the schools involved are Sekolah Kebangsaan Nanga Kesit and Sekolah Kebangsaan Nanga Menyebat and benefited a total of 145 students.
Charity Week Aid in Palestine 2023
In 2023, a total of £1.1 million has been channeled to specific aid in Palestine. Among the types of aid include medical care, care for Gaza children and water, sanitation and hygiene assistance.
> More than 169,000 medical equipment has been distributed to support hospitals and health facilities.
> Since the crisis began, over 630 orphans have been supported. In addition to sponsorship, care has been provided for 5200 children in Gaza through psychosocial support sessions.
> Islamic Relief’s team has been distributing clean and safe drinking water. A total of 68,000 people has received clean water, and 2,000 families have received essential items.
