Somalia Water Supply Complex

Did You Know?

  • More than 50% of Somalia’s population lack access to water sources – (UNICEF).
  • 99% of the water used in Somalia is for livestock and agriculture, BUT the existing water sources are not enough to meet those needs – (UNICEF).
  • Water scarcity also leads to food scarcity for them.
  • Women and girls in Africa have to sacrifice nearly 200 hours every day to fetch water – (UNICEF).
  • Drought in Somalia resulted in over a quarter million deaths in 2011.
  • 1.8 million children suffer from severe malnutrition due to lack of water sources.

In Somalia, we are building the Somalia Water Supply Complex to help ease the burden on rural communities.
Don’t miss this opportunity to make a lasting impact.

What is unique about the Water Supply System Complex project in Somalia?

  • It is equipped with water tanks and solar panel systems.
  • Animals also have their own designated drinking water area, separate from the water collection pipes for the residents.
  • Reducing the distance of travel to fetch water. From over 10KM to 400M.

Sa’ad ibn ‘Ubadah reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. Shall I give charity on her behalf?”

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Yes.” I said, “Which charity is best?” The Prophet said, “A drink of water.”
