Many people dream of the beauty of white, soft and fluffy snow, but yet there are those who are suffering from the cold harsh winter.
CLEAN WATER SUPPLY
Sa’ad ibn ‘Ubadah reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. Shall I give charity on her behalf?”
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Yes.” I said, “Which charity is best?” The Prophet said, “A drink of water.”
#setitisharapan
While water is essential for human survival, it is important that the water is safe and clean for consumption.
Access to safe and clean water is a basic human right, and efforts should be made to provide access to clean water to everyone.
According to The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), 8 out of 10 people who lack even basic drinking water live in rural areas and 9 out of 10 people who practice open defecation also live in rural areas.
If the problem continues, billions of vulnerable children and families will be left more critical in future.
Did You Know?
- 2.2 billion people still do not have access to safe drinking water. (UNICEF)
- 3.4 million people die each year due to water-borne diseases. (WHO)
- Every day, over 1,000 children under 5 die from diseases linked to dirty water. (UNICEF)
- By 2040, almost 1 in 4 children will live in areas of extremely high-water stress. (UNICEF)
