Over 4.6 million Malaysian are people with disabilities. More than 700 thousand people are visually impaired and there is only less than 100 thousand people are registered with the Department of Social Welfare or known as JKM.


In line with Islamic Relief Malaysia to focus on disable this year, IRM had been launch a campaign to assist VDPs in the issues they face in their daily life. Together with Persatuan Orang-orang Cacat Penglihatan Islam Malaysia (PERTIS), a special madrasah for VDP will be built in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan by the name of Madrasah Abdullah Ibnu Ummi Maktum Almajidiah (MAUMA). The main aim of the madrasah is to produce and empower the Muslim VDP to be a literate Al-Quran generation and able to earn income from the skills they have learned in MAUMA.


The campaign will be ongoing for one year and be co-operated by the Association of Persons with Disabilities in Malaysia (PERTIS).


Total funds needed for this campaign, RM730,000.
