EMPOWER COMMUNITIES THRU MUSHROOM CULTIVATION IN LOMBOK
Islamic Relief aims to provide vulnerable people with the tools to support themselves.
The mushroom cultivation programme initially was funded by WAQF/Islamic Relief Worldwide and currently implement under Islamic Relief Indonesia. Throughout the project, participants were trained to plant, harvest, seed and replant mushrooms independently, as well as learning selling and marketing techniques.
MACEX 2.0 is a group of volunteers from International University Islam Malaysia (IIUM) willing to support this project. Their objective is to:
1. To raise fund for the establishment of mushroom house.
Huge potential market and high demand make the opportunity to cultivate mushroom becomes very prospective and promising. Through mushroom cultivation, beneficiaries were able to have sustainable income. This is also supported by the ability to package the mushroom into variety products. Hence, IR aims to increase and strengthen the operation of mushroom house around Lombok area.
2. To empower young entrepreneur (Pesantren students) with English education.
Youth is the future. Empowering youth means shaping better prosperous future. In rural Indonesia, including Lombok, the education sector suffers from an acute shortage of resources which significantly undermines the quality of service delivery to children. By empowering them with education, including English it will enhance their business management and marketing capacities.
