But mushrooms are highly prized in Indonesia and bring quick returns on small investments.<\/p>\n<p>Surmini, a mother-of-three (pictured right), said: \u201cFor me, this activity has changed my life and my income dramatically.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.islamic-relief.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/surmini-small-pic.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islamic-relief.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/surmini-small-pic-209x300.jpg\" alt=\"surmini-small-pic\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI sell mushroom products every day and sometimes I can\u2019t meet the customer demand because of the limited availability of the mushrooms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Surmini\u2019s husband died over a year ago she was left supporting her five-year-old son and two step children with no means of income. Finding work as a housemaid, she was struggling to support her family of four on just $2-a-day.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cAfter my husband died, I was very worried about my children\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn training I remember we were told to care for the mushrooms in the same way you care for a baby.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were very surprised when we saw them growing.
