IRE has distributed food for 670 households and NFI to 360 households in in Yallo Woreda (district) of Afar region from July 12-15, 2021. The area that borders Tigray region is chronically food insecure as a result of recurrent drought. Now, these areas are facing additional challenge related to the conflict. The team were distributing food to people who are displaced as a result of the fighting in the neighbouring Tigray region as well as individuals who are hosting the displaced people and highly vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, the elderly, female headed households and chronically ill individuals.
