Heavy rains and thunderstorms have rained down on Malaysia since October 24 due to the Northeast Monsoon phenomenon that is expected to continue until March 2020 and bring more severe floods this year.

Malaysia has been experiencing heavy rains and thunderstorms since October 24 due to the Northeast Monsoon and this is expected to continue until March 2020 . More severe floods are also expected this year. The monsoon shift has flooded several states such as Perlis, Johor, Perak and Penang. The Malaysian Meteorological Department also expects several episodes of continuous heavy rain to occur with frequent floods in several area.

Amid this condition Islamic Relief Malaysia is preparing to help communities affected by the disaster through the Monsoon Appeal campaign which is under the Emergency and Disaster Risk Reduction sector.
