More than 1.5 million Somali people have to flee their homeland and become refugees in their own country.
In Mogadishu alone, about 600,000 displaced victims of hunger are placed in more than 500 refugee camps. The prolonged drought crisis has increased the risk of starvation among them. Since 2011, more than half a million Somali people have died from starvation.
Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) iniatively helping people in need by introducing our new campaign Somalia Water Waqf Fund Project.
IRM targeting to collect RM1.5 millions to build 2 boreholes/wells that will benefit more than 12,600 Somali people in Shabelle, Somalia.
This project will be implemented by IR Somalia which was founded in Somalia since 2006. Since the 2011 drought crisis, IR Somalia has been digging more than 30 wells in Somalilland, Puntland and southern of Somalia.
