The drought has led to high levels of food insecurity and increased rates of malnutrition. According to the latest figures from ACAPS, 5.6 million people in the country are in need of food assistance, 9.2 million lack access to safe water, and 420,000 children are suffering with Severe Acute Malnutrition.

Due to shortage of water and food, Pastoralist communities have become displaced in Somali Region. The majority of the people in these sites are women and children as reported who lost majority of their animals including goats and camels which are traditionally considered as drought resistant animals.

Bilik Gerakan Kecemasan (BGK) telah beroperasi sejak beberapa hari yang lalu untuk membantu mangsa-mangsa banjir di sekitar kawasan Pantai Timur. Untuk makluman, BGK telah ditubuhkan pada tahun 2015 oleh sekumpulan sukarelawan IRM sebagai pusat aktiviti IRM di kawasan Rantau Panjang. Mereka terdiri daripada guru, peniaga, penjawat awam dan lain-lain.
